Northern Alabama Students See Carpentry as a Career Choice

About 2000 8th graders from 13 counties across Northern Alabama got a look at career options recently at the World of Works Expo in Huntsville, Alabama. One of the most popular booths at the two-day event was the Mid-South Carpenters Training program and its virtual welding machine.

Typically, students in the 8th grade begin to explore their career options. As freshmen and sophomores in high school, their career path takes shape. The purpose of this Expo is to create awareness about specific career options to help address workforce needs in the region. It shows students how to connect the dots and see the steps they need to take to get the career they want.
